Investing in our Communities
What We Support
Financial Education
Each One, Teach One is an approach to providing basic and plain language financial knowledge, in communities by volunteer employees from credit unions. The goal of our Each One Teach One workshops is to empower people to make the right financial decisions for themselves and their families.
Topics include basic banking and budgeting, taxation and tax filing, contracts, and building a healthy credit report. Other sessions cover renting vs. owning, senior financial abuse prevention and fraud prevention.
How can I attend a session or make arrangements to have one happen in my community?
Talk to us today and we’d be happy to talk to you in more detail about the program.
Affordable Housing
12 Neighbours Community
OMISTA Credit Union has entered partnership with 12 Neighbours Community. With the help of the 2022 Wyth Financial Empowering Your Community Award worth $5000 and an additional $7,000 donation from our organization, we have committed $12,000 towards the 12 Neighbours Community Project so far. One of OMISTA’s pillars is Committed To Where We Live and we believe that this project aligns perfectly with that pillar.
OMISTA employees also plan on continuing to help move this project forward by rolling up their sleeves to make meaningful contributions with the build by landscaping, staging, fundraising, and raising awareness for the project. In addition, As the Social Enterprise Centre takes shape, OMISTA experts plan to deliver basic and plain language financial knowledge to the 12 Neighbours community members through the Credit Union Each One Teach One program. We want to support this program in all aspects possible.
