THE POSITION
The Project Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the successful execution of various projects across departments. This individual will work closely with the strategy team, department leads, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with our strategic goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Projects and Initiatives:
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of projects from initiation to completion.
- Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, ensuring they meet agreed-upon objectives.
- Communicate project updates and progress to team members, stakeholders, and management.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and track follow-up action items.
- Identify potential project risks and issues, escalating them as necessary.
- Support project budgeting, resource allocation, and scheduling efforts.
- Maintain detailed project documentation, including plans, reports, and change requests.
- Assist in the development and improvement of project management tools, templates, and processes.
- Ensure that projects align with the credit union’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.
Research and Analysis:
- Perform studies and research to improve business processes and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and maintain performance metrics, measurements, methods and targets for process and policy improvement initiatives.
- Create standard process flows, operating procedures, and manuals for the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, analyze data, and support decisionmaking as it relates to policies, procedures, and improvements.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Strong organizational skills with attention to details.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with multiple departments and stakeholders.
- Advanced skills in the use and application of software and technology.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of credit union operations.
- Experience in a Financial Institution. Credit Union experience in varying roles an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in leading business process transformations of varying sizes and complexity.
Education and Training
- College diploma or university degree in a business discipline, plus a minimum of five years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Training or experience in process improvement methodologies and project management preferred.
- Training or experience in Change Management preferred.
- Good knowledge of Office 365 (Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint)
