2025 Board Election: March 27 to April 17, 2025

OMISTA Credit Union members have the opportunity to shape the future of our organization by voting in the 2025 Board of Directors election.

OMISTA’s Board of Directors is made up of nine dedicated individuals elected by members to represent their interests and guide the credit union’s long-term strategy. To strengthen governance and decision-making, the Board seeks candidates with expertise in financial statement analysis, board or committee leadership, budgeting, strategy, and experience in legal, risk management, or governance.

Your participation helps guide the direction of OMISTA and ensures strong leadership for the years ahead.
 

Meet the Nominees

This year, seven candidates are running for five available positions on the Board of Directors.
Among them: 

  • Three are current board members seeking re-election and will be identified as "Incumbent."
  • Two are currently serving as Directors At Large and will be indicated as "At Large.

Shawni Beaulieu

Incumbent

Shawni Beaulieu holds a Bachelor of Arts (honours) in Anthropology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Her research focussed on ethnographic poetry and the disparate expression of lived experiences.

Shawni is a member of OMISTA Credit Union and has served on the board since 2021. She is currently the board Secretary and has sat on the following committees thus far: Sustainability, Nomination, Audit Credit and Risk, AGM, and the HR and Executive. She is also well on her way to becoming a Credit Union Director Achievement (CUDA) graduate.

Shawni brings experience in strategic planning, systems thinking, and collaboration in the context of complexity. She currently works as the Operations Manager for All In Research and Innovation; a human-centred design agency based in Fredericton.

 

Sean Greene, CPA, CGA

At Large

Sean Greene is currently a partner at Greene CPA in Moncton and has over 20 years of experience in public accounting. Sean leads his team in providing accounting, assurance, taxation, and general advisory services to small and medium sized owner managed businesses, as well as a significant number of not-for-profit organizations. He is active in his community and currently serves as Past-President of the Moncton Rotary Club as well as being active in youth sports as a coach and manager, and past-president of Baseball Dieppe. In 2024, he joined the board of OMISTA Credit Union as a director-at-large, completed Level A of the Credit Union Director Achievement Program (CUDA), and serves on the Governance Committee. Sean lives in Dieppe with his wife, three sons, and dog.

 

Robert Hammond

 

Robert Hammond had a 35-year career as an Air Traffic Controller, serving in Fredericton, NB, St. John’s, NL, Halifax, NS, and Riverview, NB. He also held roles as an instructor, supervisor, and operations specialist. After retiring, he spent a year in Baghdad, Iraq, as an Approach Air Traffic Controller and instructor. Robert is a licensed commercial pilot with 2,500 flight hours.

From 1999 to 2001, Robert and his wife also owned and operated Pizzazz Home Cooking to Go, an independent business in Riverview, NB, financed through OMISTA Credit Union.

An active volunteer, he has contributed to several organizations, including the Greater Moncton SPCA (now PAW). He currently serves as Maritime Director for the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, advocating for the general aviation community in Canada.

Robert is married and has two grown children who, along with their families, reside in Riverview, NB.

 

Roxanne Reeves, Ph.D

Incumbent

Roxanne Reeves is an award-winning researcher and multi-published author. Her Ph.D. dissertation was awarded recognition by the International Mentoring Association. Her master’s work on Canadian economic history earned her a Labour History Travail New Brunswick fellowship.

Roxanne has had a career building diverse and high-value relationships across government, private industry, family-run businesses, and academic institutions. Notably, she has presented research on the intersection of newcomers, entrepreneurship, and mentorship to the Senate of Canada. She is currently the executive assistant to the Minister of Social Development, GNB.

Inspired by artistic pursuits, stained glass artistry, and her rural upbringing, Roxanne is committed to making meaningful contributions. As a current OMISTA Credit Union Board member, Roxanne serves on the Sustainability and Governance Committees and has completed Level A of the Credit Union Director Achievement Program (CUDA).

Roxanne splits her time between Mundleville and Fredericton with her husband, Shawn Graham, and their two orange cats. She is passionate about membership growth, diversity strategy, member protection, and financial resilience.

 

Steve Smallwood

At Large

Steve Smallwood, born and raised in Fredericton, holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Guelph. Over his 40-year career with Co-operators, he progressed from claims to district manager, leading sales teams and guiding financial advisors. In his roles he earned multiple awards and deepened his understanding of cooperative values.

He holds Associate of the Insurance Institute and Certified General Accountant designations. He has served on several boards. In 2024, he joined OMISTA Credit Union’s Board as a Director At Large, completing Level A of the Credit Union Director Achievement Program (CUDA) and serving on the Audit, Risk, and Credit Committees.

Steve was a Big Brother in Guelph for over a decade and led the Co-operators’ fundraising for Youth Impact in Moncton. Married for 40 years to Cathy, he has a daughter, Nakita, and enjoys fishing, golf, and pickleball. He feels these experiences have prepared him to help navigate OMISTA’s challenges and opportunities in the evolving financial sector.

Joe Rodrigues

 

Joe Rodrigues is a Chartered Financial Analyst® with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Dalhousie University and a member of the CFA Society Atlantic Canada. As a Fixed Income Analyst at Vestcor Inc., Joe researches securities, develops trade ideas, and manages a segment of the Corporate Bond portfolio. Previously, as a Fund Accountant, he gained experience in financial reporting and client servicing across various investments. Joe’s role as Treasurer for L’Arche Fredericton Inc. highlights his ability to advise stakeholders and optimize resources. With expertise in investment management, risk analysis, and strategic leadership, Joe feels he is well-suited for the OMISTA Credit Union Board.

 

Linda Schofield

Incumbent

Linda Schofield is recently retired from a 35+-year career and as an executive team member at the Université de Moncton. Linda has developed considerable expertise in the areas of management, fundraising, public relations, crisis management, governance and organizing large-scale projects and events for the university and the community. She holds a Bachelor in Recreation and a Master of Education in Guidance Counselling from the Université de Moncton. She has the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She has consistently been highly involved in the community. She is currently Vice-Chair of OMISTA Credit Union, Vice-Chair of Destination Moncton-Dieppe and Chair of the NB Committee of the ICD.
