About Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue Group, Inc.:
Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue Group, Inc. is a charity organization consisting of volunteers and regulated by the Canadian government. For over 36 years, we have been providing training to volunteers and raising funds to support our operations. Our goal is to ensure that our volunteers are fully equipped and well-prepared to assist in emergencies and search for missing individuals. We offer training opportunities twice a month, including one field exercise per month to provide hands-on experience.
OVER 58 ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS IN 2022!
Volunteers from Westmoreland, Albert and Kent counties fill the need for ground search and rescue capabilities for the missing and lost persons in our province. It is a volunteer emergency service group administered by its members, incorporated as a non-profit organization.
What does Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue bring to the Lost/ Missing person incident?
Components of the Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue team start arriving within the first hour of the request (depending on distance). Compromising the team into two groups: The “Overhead Team,” which administers and coordinates the search effort from a Command Post (C.P.), and the “Search Teams,” made up of multiple two- to three-person groups which perform the search activities.
Project – Trailer Retrofit.
Tri-Community Ground Search and Rescue will use their $10,000 in funding from OMISTA Credit Union to retrofit their command centre trailer. The retrofit will include wiring, shelving, and a canopy to improve the trailer's functionality. The command centre trailer is where the team members complete their briefing before they head out on a search, and it also acts as a place to take shelter from weather conditions.
Goal: The Tri-Community Ground Search and Rescue team is to assist communities during extreme weather conditions such as ice storms, flooding, and disasters. They have previously worked with local agencies for a week during the ice storm of 2017 and have also helped in St George during the power outage on Christmas. The number of individuals and communities that they help varies depending on the situation.
The team is provided solely by highly trained volunteers who are on call 24/7 throughout the year. These volunteers offer their time, dedication, expertise, and gear at no cost to the people of N.B. and to the individuals they rescue.
